That's the Way

I don't know how I'm gonna tell you
I can't play with you no more,
I don't know how I'm gonna do what mama told me,
My friend, the boy next door.

I can't believe what people saying
You're gonna let your hair hang down,
I'm satisfied to sit here working all day long,
You're on the darker side of town.

And when I'm out I see you walking,
Why don't your eyes see me,
Could it be you've found another game to play,
What did mama say to me.

            That's The Way,
Oh, That's The Way it ought to be,
            Yeah, yeah, mama say
That's The Way it ought to stay.

And yesterday I saw you standing by the river,
And weren't those tears that filled your eyes,
And all the fish that lay in dirty water dying,
Had they got you hypnotized?

Yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers,
But all that lives is born to die,
And so I say to you that nothing really matters,
And all you do is stand and cry.

I don't know what to say about it,
When all you ears have turned away,
But now's the time to look and look again at what you see,
Is that the way it ought to stay?

            That's The Way,
Oh, That's The Way it ought to be,
            Yeah, yeah, mama say
That's The Way it ought to stay.

Ironic

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

Ok my break is over at least for the next few minutes... Ok scenario,

So, let's say you call someone up and invite them to go do something with you that evening. They say, well I need to find out and call you back. You never get a phone call back. What would you think? Jerk, comes to mind for me. But, not being a person quick to judge you give them some time. Maybe something happened. One week later, still no phone call. No email. No letter. Nothing. What happened to common courtesy? What is so damn hard about returning a phone call?

Don't stop believing, hold on to that feeling.
